The New Deal for Students is a WIN all the way around! When I first applied to SCCC, I hesitated, fearing lack of inclusion and acceptance, but quickly found my worries fade. For example, I missed the first day of one class for a work training but instead of just sending me the syllabus, my professor arranged a weekend video call. We connected personally, discussing everything from chemistry to life's challenges.I hold countless memories of faculty offering additional assistance and genuinely caring about my success. They're my mentors, coaches, and cheerleaders, infusing me with confidence and a sense of belonging. Now, as I stand proud as a Suffolk Shark, I see a future filled with possibilities, thanks to this nurturing, inclusive community that has become my second home.— Udya Dewanamuni, current SCCC biology major, Ammerman Campus |

What is the New Deal for Students? This campaign developed by the Faculty Association Suffolk Community College is aimed squarely at improving student success at the college. There's no doubt in our mind that if we work together in collaboration with all the stakeholders at the college, we can and will rise to meet the challenges that come our way. Why a special campaign? We believe that we, the faculty, should be one of the central voices in how to help move the institution forward. This is a campaign to actively collaborate with the college and other stakeholders to provide students with more full-time faculty, expert mentoring, more equitable opportunities, and improved student support services. We are the ones who teach, counsel, train, listen to, prepare, tutor, assist, guide, advise, educate, and help students every single day.
